VA Gov Poll – McD beats McA

New Poll - A new poll is being reported by the Swing State Project.  This site defines its mission as “Campaign and Election News – Covering Key Races Around the Country”.  One of those key races is the Virginia Guberatorial race.  Information from the April 25 – April 27 poll is included regarding who is leading the Democratic primary and who would win the November election.  It is largely in accordance with predictions made on this blog in the past.  Very interesting.

  1. didn’t see it broken down by region.. that would have shed more light on where McD is strong and where he is less so but if it is TRUE that he leads in NoVa and other urbanized areas, McA might have an upstream struggle…

  2. It’s early days yet. I have always thought that candidates involved in primaries are at a disadvantage with regard to candidates who are not. So, my theory would hold that McAuliffe is at a disadvantage vs. McDonnell. However, this is usually due to candidates in primaries having to take stands on issues while those who get their nomination (unopposed) don’t have to take stands. This election is a bit different. McDonnell is taking stands on the issues ahead of the Democratic primary. And, he is ahead in the polls. So, I am assuming that McDonnell is going to be a strong candidate. That certainly doesn’t mean he’ll win. It just means that he’ll be coming from a position of strength – unlike a lot of recent Republican candidates.
